CBN, which is short for cannabinol, is just one of the many cannabinoids found in the hemp plant. When we talk about cannabinoids, we tend to focus on just CBD and THC, although there are, in fact, far more than just these two. And, as the hemp plant is being studied more than ever before, scientists are just beginning to learn about the unique properties of individual cannabinoids as opposed to the hemp plant as a whole, which is why so many hemp enthusiasts are seeking out CBN specifically these days.
What is CBN and is It Really All That Different from CBD?
We know what you’re thinking – you just spent a whole lot of time studying up on CBD and its many properties, and now you have to start all over again with a new cannabinoid. Well, we promise that it’s worth it, because CBN is nothing short of fascinating, and it’s absolutely worth making the distinction between this cannabinoid and all others, including CBD and THC.
CBN is a cannabinoid, meaning that it works with the body’s endocannabinoid system just like CBD. It’s believed that the body can use all of the different cannabinoids, as each one has its own properties, and is received by the cannabinoid receptors throughout the body in its own unique way. CBN is not as prominent in the hemp plant as CBD, but still present in decently high levels compared to other cannabinoids.
CBN, like CBD, is non-psychoactive. This means that even in high doses, it can’t get you high, like THC can. It’s recently been discovered that as a hemp plant ages, the level of CBN seems to increase.
How is CBN E-Liquid Produced?
CBN naturally occurs in the hemp plant. Once the hemp plant has been run through an extraction process, chemists end up with a concentrated oil that contains the full spectrum of compounds found in hemp, including cannabinoids like CBD and CBN, terpenes and flavonoids. From there, chemists can choose to isolate particular compounds. CBN isolate, which is just a concentrate containing nothing but CBN, is made by isolating the CBN compound from the rest of the concentrate. To produce a decent amount of CBN isolate, a lot of plant material must be extracted. This is part of the reason why it’s relatively expensive compared to, say, CBD isolate. Making a CBD isolate requires less plant material than CBN isolate because there’s a much greater amount of CBD per plant compared to CBN.
From there, the CBN isolate is mixed with vegetable glycerin, propylene glycol and sometimes flavoring, allowing it to be used with a vaping device.
5 Reasons Why CBN Vape Juices/Cartridges Might be Right for You
One of the most popular ways to consume CBN is to vape it. When we vape a compound, it absorbs into the body in a unique way, as you’ll see.
Reason #1: Vaping CBN Provides a Faster Activation Time
Inhaling hemp through a vaping device allows for the fastest activation time. This means that within minutes of vaping CBN, it will become active within the body at peak levels. This is ideal for those who wish to take CBN on demand, so to speak. While taking an edible would require that the user wait up to two hours for the CBN to take effect, vaping it allows the compound to get to work very quickly. Those who take CBN for its specific properties can find this useful, as they can take a dose as needed throughout the day rather than having to time out their dosage levels.
Reason #2: Vaping CBN Provides a Highly Potent Activation of the Compound
Another unique thing about vaping a compound is that it allows for a more potent experience compared to other methods. Again, this has to do with the way in which the compound absorbs into the body. This is great for those who want to feel the full, powerful effects of the cannabinoid. Because of how potently it is felt, the user can experience more of its properties at one time.
Reason #3: CBN Can Provide a Different Experience from Other Hemp Products
Like we’ve said, CBN has its own unique properties that are different from other compounds found in hemp. This means that vaping pure CBN isolate can provide an experience that’s different from that of other hemp-based products. If, for instance, you’ve enjoyed taking CBD but have found that it’s not targeting what you had hoped, CBN may be a great alternative. CBN may be able to give you the experience that you had been hoping for when you first got interested in hemp.
Reason #4: You Can Vape CBN Almost Anywhere and Anytime
Vaping CBN is a great method of administration because it’s one of the more portable methods that’s out there. Anywhere where vaping is allowed, you can enjoy a satisfying dose of CBN. This means that you won’t have to wait to get home to consume your CBN capsule with water or find a place where you can sneak in a dose of a CBN tincture. Vaping CBN can be done with a vaping device that’s small and portable, not to mention discreet.
CBN Cartridges vs. Vape Juices
One thing that you’ll need to decide before vaping CBN is whether you wish to buy a CBN vape juice in a bottle or a pre-filled CBN cartridge. This all comes down to personal preference. However, if you’re going to start vaping CBN as part of your hemp regimen, make sure to find a high-quality product that’s been tested so that you can know for sure that it’s the real thing, and that it’s high in quality.
